avoid false dirty flag on MacOS where VirtioFS remaps stat metadata, breaking git diff-index fast-path comparisons. Use full checksum (de minimis for firmware atm) to ensure dirty flags are only applied when the hashes are *actually* different, not just when the filesys metadata changes
